The Children’s Museum regularly organises a string of vibrant educational programmes and activities that can engage children and parents together on weekends at the Museum.
Daily Activities
Timings: 11am – 12pm and 2pm – 3pm
Monday: Archaeological Dig demonstration – learn about the methodology of an archaeological excavation
Tuesday: Fun with board games – introduction to traditional board games like chess, pachisi, palangudhi and chauka bara
Wednesday: Storytelling with objects – Stories of astrolabes, miniature paintings, a turban, a Harappan toy cart, stone tools and many many many more objects!
Thursday: How did they do that? – Learning about technologies and arts through pictures, objects and models
Friday: Frida Fridays – open and messy art activities
These activities can be walk-in sessions or you can also book a session for your visiting groups (10 or more children)

Workshops and lec-dems
Sunday Art Class- Workshops for children of different age groups focussing on different arts, art styles, artists (past and contemporary) to intensify and enrich their engagement with art in a creative and fun way
The Science of Art- Workshops that help children explore the science behind different art forms exposing them to the concept of STEAM
Masterclasses- Specialist workshops based on specific themes and provide deeper engagement and in-depth knowledge

Museum Kids’ Club (http://www.csmvs.in/learning/museum-kids-club)- Monthly workshops that engage kids with Museum collections, concepts of heritage, both tangible and intangible.
Storytelling – We conduct regular storytelling sessions for ages 4 years and above under the Baobab tree and our amphitheatre. Packed with fun and laughter, these sessions are conducted by the Education team as well as renowned storytellers using various mediums like music, art, puppets etc.

Performances - Music, dance and theatre performances for families and children to enjoy at our Amphitheatre. Schools, theatre groups, individual performers may avail the facility by prior information. The Children’s Museum in collaboration with various performers and artists often hosts programmes for all visitors.
Early Years Programmes – Weekly programmes on various topics filled with interactions and activities for children to enhance their curiosity, capabilities and to develop creative thinking. Immerse in music, rhyme, dance, story-telling and brain gyms at the these programmes.

Open activities - Fun and quick to-do activities with a take-away for all our visitors at the Plaza
Tours and talks - Guided tour of the children’s museum exhibition conducted by Education team. Special talks and lectures on a variety of curriculum-related or gallery specific subjects accompanied by slide-illustrated presentations and with handling kits.

Films - Film and documentary screenings held every fortnight on an array of subjects and themes hosted for children and families to enjoy together. Entertaining evenings replete with emotions, information and fun are a highlight of the film screenings at the Children’s Museum.

Festivals
Once Upon a Museum- A two-day storytelling festival bringing storytelling through different fun art forms for people to enjoy and indulge in. The aim of this storytelling festival is to weave stories around the wonderful pieces in the Museum, which help bring histories alive and make them fun for people. The dates for this year’s festival are 9th and 10th November and the theme is ‘Water Conservation’.
Children’s Art Festival- A three-day art festival with string of art related activities and workshops, captivating displays, engaging installations, games, music and performances to stimulate young minds on the theme of ‘Mumbai’. The dates for the festival are 7th and 8th December 2019.
