Are We Like This Only?
Talk by Naman P Ahuja
Venue: Auditorium, Visitors' Centre
What does it take to tell a history of the world from an Indian position without falling into the pitfalls of overblown national pride or competitiveness, or equally, without losing the uniqueness of an Indian standpoint to a language established at the time of the colonial empire?
The greatest challenge that confronts a major exhibition is making an intellectual narrative practicable and easily comprehensible.
From the selection of artworks to the language/vocabulary in which it was communicated, the curator takes us on a journey behind the scenes detailing how this exhibition addresses the larger narrative of the terms at which India can(and will?) participate in a global art history.
