CONSERVING THE COLLECTION
An exhibition on the practices of art conservation
Venue: Special Exhibitions Gallery, 1st floor, East Wing Extension Building, CSMVS.
People don’t always get an opportunity to see how their cultural treasures are preserved. This exhibition aims to provide a glimpse into the world of art conservation and restoration practice. The exhibition will provide answers to the following questions: Who are art conservators and restorers? What do they do to ensure the longevity of art objects? What is the role of science in this pursuit? How do art, science and history come together in this endeavor to preserve our cultural heritage? With examples of objects that have been treated under the ConservArte: Citi-CSMVS Art Conservation Project, the exhibition will explain the practice of art conservation and restoration.
This Exhibition is being conducted under the aegis of ConservArte: Citi-CSMVS Art Conservation Project.
