Dr. Devangana Desai is an eminent art historian on ancient and medieval Indian art and has researched and written widely on religious imagery and iconography. She is a Trustee of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, Mumbai and also serves on the board of the Calico Museum. Dr. Desai has served as the hon’ble Vice President of the Asiatic Society in Mumbai and also been the editor of its journal from 1992 to 2009. She has also been a long-standing chairperson of the Museum Society of Mumbai from 1983 to 1992 and has received the prestigious Hirayama Prize in 2015 for the totality of researches in the field of Indian art. In this talk on Khajuraho, she brings out the magnificent sculptures and icons of the world heritage site in Madhya Pradesh. Dr. Devangana Desai has worked on the temples of Khajuraho for the better part of her academic life.
